PLE

Well after doing some reading on the subject I can say that a PLE is definable by it’s diversity. I also think that its important to point out that everyone has a PLE already and that from this point out its a matter of refining it and making it more efficient. I use several tools to find any and all information to find what I need to know on the internet and thats really the key of what a PLE is. However there is more to it as well as pointed out here.
A true PLE not only helps find information but sort it and store it as well. In any event the best way to show what a PLE is is to break your own down as done by this author. In any event I can see the definite benefits of storing the information that I have found in a way that is easily accessed as well as having a place to share myu own information with others.

Yeah, I definitely think that sharing the information you have learned and compiled is the most important part of a PLE. I guess the best way to develop your own PLE is just to try different sites and applications and see how well they work for you personally. I have been testing out a few out of a list posted by Mr. Batchelder to see if they are going to help me out in my learning process here at school.

  2. I agree, in doing research for this assignment, PLE’s are definable by their diversity. This does make sense, considering everyone should set their own up in the best way they see fit. It does make it hard, though, when thinking about how to set up your own when their is no real standardized format. But I guess this helps make every PLE unique to each person.

For me, it helped the most when people mapped out their own PLE’s. I personally see it as a structured way of doing the same thing I have done for years, on a much larger scale. As Michele Martin (the second link in this blog entry) said, “Note that I mention that informal learning is a big part of the PLE.”

Of course, it seems we all have done quite a bit of informal learning ourselves. Maybe that’s one reason why we chose our major?

:D Yeah, practically everyone has a personal learning environment but the term PLE doesn’t always come to mind when considering your learning habits.

Funny how you and Lindsey pulled up the same reference article. Mr. Hibert does do a great job of breaking down his resources and formulates a strong visual map of his PLE. I’ve always believed in the phrase “The moment you stop learning, is the moment you die.” I just never really thought of my learning process as having a specific name.
